What is the Travel Dice ?
The Travel Dice is for experienced lucid dreamers as well as those who want to become them.
If you have never had a lucid dream and you want to start from scratch, there are plenty of books, video tutorials and other material that can help you having your first lucid dream.
In lucid dreams you are aware of the fact that you are dreaming in the very moment of the dream, which makes you able to take action and decide on what you want to do next. Maybe you want to fly to planet Mars? Meet your favorite actress? Visit the past? With practice and patience, there are no limits.
Let’s say you have a lucid dream and you want to be on a beautiful island. If you had lucid dreams already, you might have experienced this: by flying, walking or traveling towards your destination, the dream becomes all about the trip itself until eventually, you wake up.
There are many possibilities to travel in lucid dreams that have proven to work well for a lot
of people – walking through magic portals, or spinning around your own axis for example.
The Travel Dice is a new tool adding to these quick and easy traveling possibilities, and it is especially designed from a lucid dreamer for lucid dreamers.
How to use the Travel Dice
It is easier to accomplish things in a lucid dream when there is a waking-life-reference, which makes sense because your brain is already “trained” on it. The idea is to get familiar with the Travel Dice and becoming aware of its function while being awake (even if you can’t fully use this function in the moment). When being asleep and having a lucid dream eventually, you will remember the Travel Dice. Now is the moment where its function can be played out just as with any other tool or object you are familiar with.
WAKING STATE: TRAINING
Haptical training
The Travel Dice is made to fit in the pocket of your pants. Carry it with you throughout the day, alsways in the same spot e.g. in your left pocket. Take it out now and then, get familiar with its texture, how it feels in your hand, when you squeeze it. Imagine how it would feel if you were in a lucid dream and could use it to travel. Where would you want to go?
Visual training
Google Earth’s feature “I’m feeling lucky” is a good way to visually train your brain on the Travel Dice’s function. When hitting the dice button on the website, an animation starts, zooming you out of the current position up to a scale where you can see the Earth like a rolling ball, then zooming back in again to set you off in a different place. Play with this button a little, internalizing the idea that this is how it will look when you use the Travel Dice in your lucid dream.
LUCID DREAM STATE: ACTION!
Before the lucid dream
Choose your destination before going to bed. It is much easier to grasp your defined wish in a lucid dream than making something up in the lucid dream state. Repeat to yourself: “If I have a lucid dream, I will use the Travel Dice to go to Mars”
In the lucid dream
No matter how you become lucid – accidently or with your favorite technique – once you reach the lucid dream state you will remember the Travel Dice.
Take it out of your pocket (or the place you defined) and hold it in front of you. Speak into the Travel Dice, loud and clear and name the destination you chose, e.g.:”Take me to planet Mars”. Squeeze the Travel Dice in your hand, and let it take you off... Enjoy!
How to build your own Travel Dice
The look that I chose for it takes advantage of its form. I also wanted it to fit in the pockets of your pants, so it can be carried around easily. Adding to that, I found it helpful to have a special texture (I chose silky shiny texture) to be haptically distinguishable when reached for it. But the Travel Dice can basically have any shape, color, texture or size you want it to have.
The pyramid shape is a very basic and easy sewing technique that is mostly used for creating little decorative chickens. There are plenty video tutorials online for it, such as this one.
Just make it your very own Travel Dice and decide what suits best for you :)
